Solid Set Collars

Our solid collars are your most economical option for linear motion applications. They install axially & are secured with set screws (the set screw sets are included in your order). In general, couplings connect two shafts, such as a temporary repair when a shaft breaks, or they act as a permanent connector between a power source and a component driven on a separate shaft.

Single Split Collars

Our single split collars provide a tighter fit than solid type collars, while reducing the risk of damage to the shaft. They are installed axially and secured with a cap screw. We also have threaded bore single spit collars and metric sizes available if required.

Double Split Collars

Our double split shaft collars install without disassembling machinery. Double split industrial collars provide excellent clamping power and are secured with two cap screws. Their grooved face indicates that they are machined with precision, ensuring that the face is precisely perpendicular to the bore. They are installed axially and secured with a cap screw. Metric sizes are also available.

User FAQ

FAQ'S About This Product.

Yes, steel shaft collars are weldable. The black oxide coating may need to removed exposing plain steel for a better surface to weld. This can be done using a metal brush to remove the black from a single weld spot or a tumbler to remove black completely.

Yes, some customers will add tapped or through holes on the face of the shaft collar to mount directly on applications such as pulleys.

Yes, about 5%. This is because it uses the full seating torque to apply clamping forces to the shaft.

While there is no formal industry standard for shaft collars, the dimensions of most manufacturers’ collars are fairly uniform. In most applications, the shaft collar bore (ID) is considered a critical dimension while other dimensions such as outer dimension and width are considered non-critical.

The face groove on clamping collars indicates the face that should be placed against a bearing or other component requiring a perpendicular to bore orientation. For two-piece clamping collars, the face groove also helps keep the two halves of the collar properly oriented during installation.
